The Law

Giclee Prints

GOD's law is as relevant today as it was when GOD first gave it to us. Those in the world say it prevents us from having a life of freedom, but it actually prevents us from having a life of pain. Unfortunately, liberalism has entered the church and in many cases GOD's law is no longer revered. The chant of saying "we are not under the law, but under grace" has led those in the church to live compromised lives and support things that GOD is against. To simply say grace has replaced GOD's law is misleading.

Jesus did away with the ceremonial and sacrificial law not the moral law. By doing away with the sacrificial law, Jesus became our High Priest. GOD, being holy, could not take away the moral law so His Son had to come in the flesh in order to become the perfect sacrifice through the crucifixion. If GOD could take away the law then Christ did not have to die. That is why we come to GOD and ask for forgiveness in Jesus's name. Otherwise, you wouldn't have to ask GOD for forgiveness if the moral law was not still valid. What we don't have to do, is go through the ceremonial rituals which included an animal sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins.

Let's not forget when Jesus was tempted by Satan in the wilderness, Jesus quoted from the book of the law (Deuteronomy 8:3, 6:16, and 6:13). Christ also told His disciples, "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:17-19 NASB) Jesus also told His disciples, "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments." (John 14:15) GOD is our creator and he gave us His law as instructions on how to live a fulfilled life in peace with Him and with our fellow man. If people truly lived according to GOD's law there would be no theft, assault, rape, murder, AIDS, etc. GOD's law shouldn't be considered some relic of the old covenant, but honored as GOD's manual of love for
our lives.

As it says in the Psalms:

"O how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day." (Psalm 119:97 NASB)

"Those who love Your law have great peace, And nothing causes them to stumble." (Psalm 119:165 NASB)

The author of Ecclesiastes has written:

"The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person." (Ecclesiastes 12:13 NASB)

Paul had said in his letters:

"Do we then nullify the Law through faith? May it never be! On the contrary, we establish the Law." (Romans 3:31 NASB)

"What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, 'YOU SHALL NOT COVET.'" (Romans 7:7 NASB)

"So then, the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good." (Romans 7:12 NASB)

"Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith." (Galatians 3:24 NASB)
